Russian Blue Types

We'll try to explain the key differences.

The difference in the appreance of Russina Blues can be quite pronounced. Below is a simplified description of some of the main difference between the various breed standards.

English Type (GCCF)

Straight ears & prominent whisker pads.

Feature Description
Ears Set high on the head and vertical. Not flared
Eyes Oval and green.
Coat Dense short and soft coat. Medium blue in colour.
Build Medium well muscled build with long legs
Whisker Pad Large and pronounced.

Scandinavian Type

Medium build with slightly wider set ears.

Feature Description
Ears Set vertically, wide at the base and towards the side of the head.
Eyes Rounded oval and vivid green
Coat Darker blue and flatter
Build Long and graceful. Medium bone structure.
Whisker Pad Prominent

Australian Type (ACF)

Very similar to the British type.

Feature Description
Ears Large and pointed set vertically to the head. Slightly closer set than english cats.
Eyes Wide set with almond shape. Vivid green, but perhaps with a blue tone.
Coat Velvety double coat. Short, thick, fine. Medium Blue
Build Medium boned with long legs. Long and graceful body.
Whisker Pad Prominent

American Type (TICA)

Light build with big ears that stick out. A Yoda cat?

Feature Description
Ears Large and flared. Set on the side of the head and far apart.
Eyes Large and round. Deep green.
Coat Lighter Blue and shorter, sometimes looks more silver.
Build Light, long and elegant
Whisker Pad Small and not pronounced
